Stanley Tollman Life Story
Stanley Tollman is an accredited businessman and is considered by many as one of the pioneers of international travel as it is known today. From the ground up, Tollman created and founded a thriving and successful travel business that was built over generations of diligent work in the hospitality trade in South Africa where he was born. Stanley grew up in the business where his family owned and managed a range of hotels and restaurants. He had a keen desire to continue the business and later founded the global giant, The Travel Corporation (TTC), and now chairs the company from his home in the UK. TTC is one of the world’s most popular travel and tourism companies, hosting over one million customers per year on dream vacations around the globe.

Stanley Tollman is best recognized for his success in the travel business that was jump-started in his youth in South Africa. After a myriad of successful businesses including hotels, restaurants, and a wine distribution operation, Stanley went on to establish the Tollman Towers, a prestigious local hotel. Acclaimed for its incredible height, Tollman Towers was the tallest building in the region and it was presented with the first ever award in the region from the Best Hotels of the World organization.
In the early 70s, Stanley Tollman started to develop Trafalgar Tours. Originally founded in the UK over sixty years ago, a staff of several hundred employees is located around the world. As Trafalgar grew over time and further successful investments were made, The Travel Corporation (TTC) was founded. Today TTC manages its dozens of offices around the world and a global staff of several thousand. TTC is dedicated to world travel packages and is home to popular names in travel such as: Trafalgar Tours; Contiki Holidays; Red Carnation Hotels; AAT Kings; Uniworld Boutique River Cruises; Creative Holidays; Brendan Vacations; and African Travel.
Something to Celebrate
Stanley Tollman recently hosted his 80th birthday celebration in Cape Town. As part of the festivities, TTC planned a conference of 350 of its top employees to coincide with the event. A strong supporter of South African travel and tourism, Stanley is involved in Destination South Africa, a TTC partnership with local government offices to promote tourism, art and cultural activities in the country giving tradesmen and artisans a prominent stage. In lieu of gifts on this special day, Stanley made generous donations to his favorite local charities. Among them were: the Desmond Tutu Peace Centre, the Amy Biehl Foundation, and the Make a Difference Foundation. Stanley is a staunch supporter of a number of South African charitable funds and organizations. Over the years, he has given generously to causes supporting the preservation of the country’s flora and fauna. He also extends his support to the local art scene by setting up the Tollman family award that provides grants to local artists.
